1.1.5 Attributes of Allah: Living Hearing, Seeing

The Living

Allah has the attribute of Life; He is the Living (al-hayy). He is perfect. He is always living and will never die. He does not sleep either. Everything is easy for Him. He never gets tired, so He never needs to rest.

The Hearing

Allah has the attribute of Hearing; He is the Hearer (al-sami’). He does not hear with a body part the way created things do. Remember He is not like anything in His creation. He hears everything: loud sounds, quite sounds, secrets, bad words, colors, shapes, and everything there is. Let’s be careful of what we say. Allah does not like to hear evil things from us like lies and talking back to our parents.

The Seeing

Allah has the attribute of Seeing; He is the Seer (al-basir). He does not see with a body part the way created things do. Remember again, He is not like anything in His creation. He sees everything: small things, large things, sounds, thoughts, good acts, bad acts. He doesn’t need light for seeing. Let’s be careful of what we do. Allah does not like to see evil things from us like missing our prayers and hurting other people.
