Background Of Prophet Muhammad

 

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah sent the Prophet Muhammad as his last Prophet.The Prophet’s full name is Muhammad, son of `Abdullah, son of `Abdul Muttalib, son of Hashim, son of `Abdu Manaf, of the tribe of Quraysh, from the descendants of Isma`il, of the progeny of Abraham.

Significant aspects of his life

He was known amongst his people to be honest and trustworthy. When the Prophet Muhammad was 40 years old, Allah sent the Angel Jibreel to reveal to him the words of Allah. He faced significant difficulty in Maccah in spreading these words. He migrated to Madinah 13 years later, where he established a land that was guided and ruled by the beautiful and merciful religion of Islam. After 10 years of inviting others to Islam, he returned to Maccah triumphantly. He died 10 years after migration as a martyr and was buried in Madinah.

Some Important Facts

The Prophet Muhammad was sent as a Messenger to teach Islam to all of mankind. Allah said, “Say, ‘O mankind! I am the messenger of Allah to you all.” Q[7:158]

He is best of creation. The Prophet was instructed by Allah to say, “I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Judgment and I say this without Pride.” [Tirmidhi]

Allah will send no more Prophets after him. He is the final Prophet whose message will reach all humans and jinn until the Day of Judgment. Allah said in the Qur’an, “…he is the Messenger of Allah, and the Last of the prophets.” Q[33:40]

He was sent as a mercy to all of creation

Why did Allah send Prophets?

Hoopoo of Sulayman[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here are many things we do not know about the unseen world and also about what we should and should not do as Muslims. Allah sent Prophets to humans and jinn so that they could teach us this information.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e must believe in all the Prophets that were named in the Qur’an.  We must not do as some people do: they believe in some Prophets and reject the others.  All the Prophets had miracles by which they proved that they were Prophets.

The 25 Prophets in the Qur’an

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e do not know exactly how many Prophets Allah sent to mankind and jinn, but there are 25 that are named in the Qur’an.  We must accept all of these as messengers of Allah to various peoples and nations. The 25 are:

Attributes of the Prophets

  1. They always tell the truth.
  2. They always obey Allah.
  3. They deliver Allah’s message to the people.
  4. They are all intelligent.

  1. Attributes that are the opposite of the above 4. That means they never lie, commit sins or hide the message of Allah. None are ignorant.
  2. They never do shameful things.
  3. They do not have problems that prevent them from delivering their message. For example, none of them were mute or blind.
  4. They do not have any problem that makes people run away from them. For example, none of them had contagious diseases.

The Prophets Have Ranks

He said, “I am the master of the children of Adam and [I say this] without pride]. Allah called some of them the resolute ones (ulu al-‘azm). They are: Muhammad, Ibrahim, Musa, ‘Isa, Nuh (Peace be upon them)
