1.1.5 Attributes of Allah: Living Hearing, Seeing

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah has the attribute of Life; He is the Living (al-hayy). He is perfect. He is always living and will never die. He does not sleep either. Everything is easy for Him. He never gets tired, so He never needs to rest.

The Hearing

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah has the attribute of Hearing; He is the Hearer (al-sami’). He does not hear with a body part the way created things do. Remember He is not like anything in His creation. He hears everything: loud sounds, quite sounds, secrets, bad words, colors, shapes, and everything there is. Let’s be careful of what we say. Allah does not like to hear evil things from us like lies and talking back to our parents.

The Seeing

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah has the attribute of Seeing; He is the Seer (al-basir). He does not see with a body part the way created things do. Remember again, He is not like anything in His creation. He sees everything: small things, large things, sounds, thoughts, good acts, bad acts. He doesn’t need light for seeing. Let’s be careful of what we do. Allah does not like to see evil things from us like missing our prayers and hurting other people.

1.1.6 Attributes of Allah: Self-Sufficient, Knowing, Powerful and Has a Will

Allah is Self-Sufficient

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hat means He does not need anything from anyone, but everyone needs Him. Allah created humans and Jinn to worship Him. But Allah does not need their prayers, they need to pray so that Allah will love them and accept them in Paradise.

Allah is Knowing

Allah is Knowing[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah knows Everything. Small things, large things, secret things, public things, major things, minor things, Allah knows them all and He always knew them all. He knows who will go to Jannah because He knows what they will do in order to make them one of the people of Jannah. He always knew how everything would be. This information of what will happened up to the Day of Judgment is written in the Preserved Tablet (al-Lawh al-Mahfudh).

Allah Has Power

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]e is Powerful. He is capable of doing anything that suits His Majesty. There are certain things Allah cannot do because those things have no meaning. For example, Allah cannot create another god because God is not created. The things Allah cannot do prove that Allah is not like anything or anyone in His creation. He is in fact the Greatest. Allah Akbar!

Allah Has a Will

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]henever Allah Wills something, that thing is created. If He wills for someone to be healthy, he will be healthy. He willed to create the universe, so the universe was created. We cannot will anything, unless Allah wills that thing to be. “You do not will unless Allah wills, the Lord of the Worlds.”

1.2 The Angels

Angels

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]llah created humans from clay, jinn from smokeless fire and angels from light. Humans and jinn have the ability to choose between good and bad. Sometimes they choose good things, but sometimes they choose to disobey Allah.  But angels are not like humans and jinn. Angels obey Allah in whatever He tells them. They never disobey Allah in anything. Allah created them only with the ability to obey Him.

1.3 The Speech of Allah and His Revealed Books

Attribute of Speech:

In order to teach us about Himself and His religion, Allah ta’la speaks to us through His Prophets. He is the Speaking Lord. Since Adam (peace be upon Him), Allah has revealed messages to His servants. In His messages, Allah taught us:

The Qur’an is the greatest of all miracles. It is the speech of Allah. Through it He speaks to us and guides us.

When the disbelievers said it is a book written by people, Allah challenged them to write a short surah like the ones in the Qur’an. No one could ever do it. This is proof that it was not written by a man; it is the speech of Allah.

1.4.1 The Prophets of Allah

Why did Allah send Prophets?

Hoopoo of Sulayman[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here are many things we do not know about the unseen world and also about what we should and should not do as Muslims. Allah sent Prophets to humans and jinn so that they could teach us this information.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e must believe in all the Prophets that were named in the Qur’an.  We must not do as some people do: they believe in some Prophets and reject the others.  All the Prophets had miracles by which they proved that they were Prophets.

The 25 Prophets in the Qur’an

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e do not know exactly how many Prophets Allah sent to mankind and jinn, but there are 25 that are named in the Qur’an.  We must accept all of these as messengers of Allah to various peoples and nations. The 25 are:

Attributes of the Prophets

  2. They always obey Allah.

  1. Attributes that are the opposite of the above 4. That means they never lie, commit sins or hide the message of Allah. None are ignorant.
  2. They never do shameful things.
  3. They do not have problems that prevent them from delivering their message. For example, none of them were mute or blind.
  4. They do not have any problem that makes people run away from them. For example, none of them had contagious diseases.

The Prophets Have Ranks
